Happy birthday PinterTest Kitchen!
Just a year ago Jessica threw out the challenge to get us pinning less and doing more.
What good are projects and recipes if you don't make or bake them?

This month, Pinterest was good to me.
Three successes.

First project- cute up some simple tea towels.
I love tea towels.  I love cute tea towels.
I love this project from A Pretty Cool Life.

I just happened to have all the thread that I needed, and a stack of plain tea towels.

Super easy project.  Super satisfying.  I had my headphones on and listened my way into rainbow happiness.
Hello dishes.  You will be dried by something very cute tonight.

Next up- a yummy treat.
That I cannot stop eating.

This recipe.
OH MY.
It has everything you could need.
Easy.  Salty.  Sweet.  Crunchy.  Chewy.  Caramelly.  Chocolately.  Peanut buttery.
I swapped the mini M&M's for mini Reese's Pieces, because peanut butter makes everything better.  Then I renamed it CRACK.  Because it is, and it is worthy of joining the crack family of treats.
Make it.  No stove.  No oven.  No regrets.

Lastly, a dinner that didn't make anyone cry.
Hear me again- NOBODY cried.  This lack of crying includes a certain three year old who hates bread, chicken, butter, and cheese. She both ate and LIKED something made out of bread, chicken, butter, and cheese.  Momentous.  So momentous.

I needed to douse mine in Frank's Red Hot Sauce, but that is standard.  Everyone WOULD be crying if I even put one tiny drop of it on theirs.  Oh, the drama...

Did you make anything that you pinned lately?
Now is the time to link up.  THERE ARE PRIZES!!!!

Oh, and have you brushed up on your Pinterest manners?
I can totally admit that I am guilty of many an infraction.
Love this gentle nudge from Less Cake More Frosting.
Yes indeed, Pinterest does not make things.  My vocabulary will change.

Que dramatico, no?

But really, truly, maybe it is foolish pinning, maybe it is user error, maybe it is a whole bunch of different things...

Sadly, there have been some MAJOR Pinterest fails up in this house.

My new motto is:

Never judge a recipe by it's pretty pictures.

Herein lies the problem:
Yummy recipes with ugly photos will most likely not get pinned.

Yucky recipes with lovely photos will get pinned and repinned over and over.
But when someone tries it, it fails them, they go so far as to unpin it, the other repins stay.
The yucky/ pretty recipe crouches, waiting to make kids cry, husbands sad, and potluck dish bringers embarrassed.

What is a girl who loves pretty pictures AND yummy food to do?

I'm not all for leaving comments below the fails.  It's just not my thing.  Maybe it is a great recipe.  Maybe I just have weird tastes.  Maybe I made a fatal error while preparing it.

However, I am for all for having a board specifically reserved for Pinterest successes.
Will you join me?
Save the world from pretty/ yucky food?

Although it's pretty funny when your kid says "maybe you should unpin this, mom."

I love how Jessica from Keeping up with the Johnson's hosts a Pinterest Test Kitchen linky, where you can share your fails or successes.  I'm thinking that Mississippi Sin is on the menu stat.  Yummmmmm.

P.S.  While in the throes of a sugar fast, logging into Pinterest is TOTAL TORTURE.
I have to avert my eyes.

I tried to avoid it.
I knew I would get addicted.
I knew that my minutes are sparse and precious.

So I held off.
I stood firm.
I resisted many an attempt to get me to try it.

But then Drew invited me.
She convinced me.
I accepted.

I fell in crazyaddictedcan'tbelievehowmuchitcompletesme love.

Oh Pinterest.
I love/hate you.

I love how pretty you are.
How many ideas you give me.
How you organize my unorganized mind.

(Totally found this font and learned how to make this printable
on Pinterest.  So I suppose I did do a bit of doing. Word.)

But I find that when I could actually be making/ cooking/ baking/ creating all that you show me, I instead sit and find more things to make/ cook/ bake/ create.  A few minutes with you and all is right with the world.  Except I have nothing tangible to show for it.

Hmmmmm....

Chatting with no blog Alicia, she told me about a group of girls she knew who had a Pinterest Party.

They each brought supplies for everyone to make a project they had pinned, and while they worked ate yummy food that they had too found on Pinterest.

I think I needs me a Pinterest Party.

Or an intervention.

What are your favorite pins lately?
How can you pin less and do more?

Off to comb through my boards to find what would be at the top of my list....

I want to follow you...  So I can pin more things to do/ not do.
Leave your Pinterest link in el comments por favor.
