This is sort of a cheesy version of Tutorial Thursday.  It is really just a great idea that I saw in a magazine last winter.  But, I like it and thought you might too.

In a few months the girls are going to share a room.  I want to repaint it a sagey- apple green, but am having a really hard time coming up with the right shade. (Any suggestions?)  One of the rooms in my old house was the exact color that I want, but it is sadly discontinued and I don't have a sample.  As part of this quest I have found myself trolling the aisles of every paint department.  With this has come quite a few stacks of paint chips.  In the spirit of recycling, I have turned them into gift tags and bookmarks.
The gift tag is pretty self explanatory... punch hole, write a message, tie it on.  Done.  I also have begun to wrap in tulle (read about my wrapping issues here).  It is really inexpensive, can fit around any weird shape, and is whimsical and pretty.  Not for boys though.  For a bookmark I just punch a hole on the top with my Cropadile, put a grommet in it and finish it with a ribbon.  Easy, useful and it costs a few pennies.

  1. Ca-ute!!! What a crafty idea!! And so fun and unique too!!

Love the tulle idea! I was in a fall swap recently and some of my goodies came wrapped in tulle! AND...a photographer I follow recently started wrapping her boxes of smaller photos in fun, bright shades of tulle!! I thought it was a fabulous idea and it still is!!

Okay...can you tell me what that fabric is called? I am turning into this fabric crazed person!! Speaking of...I was just outside with the kids and while they were riding bikes I was working away on some fabric flowers! I would still be working but a random dog wandered over so I made us come in...I am about as untrusting as they come! And now the kids are as petrified of animals as I am!!

  5. I have so many of these paint chips since picking out new colors for our bonus room. I was hoping to find a use for all of them. Great idea!

  6. Would it be too weird to go back to your old place, chip some paint off the wall and take it to Home Depot to color match? Yeah, I am guessing that is probably illegal.

  10. This would be a cool tag for a housewarming gift, attached to a paint bucket, and filled with paint supplies. Ooooh, do I know anyone moving soon?
