It only took one viewing of this WEIRD ad to win the heart and adoration of Halley.
Just one.
Did I mention that it is super WEIRD?

Every time she is asked what she wants for her birthday this is her direct quote:

"I want the Relly Kelly pretty shoes with the makeup cell phone."

For reals.
Sorry kid.
The birthday fairy is not bringing you $75 blinged out shoes or a makeup cell phone.
Mean mom gave her the wrong address.

I don't get it.
She is cool enough without them and she certainly does not need a makeup cell phone.
WEIRD!!!

  1. Amen! I hate Nickelodeon and their commercials! But I have to admit that the Lelli Kelly is less annoying than the potty training pup Barbie...puppy pee or puppy poo..

    UH! Rip my hair out!!

I am pretty sure you could make her some blinged out shoes that would be super cute, but I am sure she just wants the makeup cell phone!

  2. so what i find more even more disturbing then the ugly products is that nordstroms sells it. crazy!!!

  3. I'm seeing Toddlers in Tiara's in your future! I kid, I kid. But for real...makeup cell phone that is a bit much!! You could bling up some keds. Even dye them a cute color first!!

  4. I actually thought some of the Lelly Kellys were cute until I saw this commercial (over and over and over with our recordings of Fresh Beat Band). "You can play with us. You can be cool with us"--what? No way. :)

  5. creepy weird. commercials - they have secret powers. strong powers.

and... aside from that -- this commercial is just down-right kinda creepish.

  6. I say buy a bunch of fabric paints and sparkles, a plastic cell phone and a pair of white keds and have her design her own phone and shoes. Make it a DIY kit. Much more fun in the long run.

  7. your blinged out shoes would be so much better, but of course she probably would not see the coolness in them... children these days!

    Good luck

  8. they have them at Nordstrom Rack... no blingy cell phone with them though :)

  10. Super odd =)

My poor kid is stuck with ScyFy, the history channel and Army Wives. LOL Luckily she hasn't noticed the TV yet, but she is only 13 months old.

  11. uh oh...how old did you say she is turning?

Guess you're getting a taste of what the teenage years will be like...

  12. that is such a weird commercial for such an expensive shoe. I'm quite shocked actually because the price point and "designer" aspect of it doesn't fit with the poorly directed, poorly written ad. I'm really bothered and want to get in touch with their marketing people actually! Anyhow, I did get suckered into buying a pair for my daughter once on sale for $39.95. She wore them about 3 times and then claimed them uncomfortable. Of course they're uncomfortable! Have you seen how stiff they are from all that crap bedazzled all over?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I've seen them first hand by a little girl at my son's daycare, but had no idea they were that expensive! Even on sale, the commercial does make them plain WEIRD. Good thing my daughter has wide feet and all she can have right now is Stride Rite :)-and I only shop at the outlets, 'cause even they are expensive!

  14. Boys.
    Only boys.
    No desire to shop.
No need for the latest style.
    I am thankful.
Now if we can only agree on clean....

  15. ugh! totally sad to see THESE are the things are sweet kiddos have to see...(kinda reminds me of the Old Navy creepy commercials)
so sorry about your foot!! *ouch*
    Take care!
    Many Blessings!

  16. I've heard that commercial so many times. I'm sure my crazy boy is going to want some soon. I'll send you my old cell phone if you'd like, and I imagine you can make a much cuter version of the blingy shoes and phone. OK, it won't have make-up in it, but they are too pretty for make-up.
I used to work with a Wonderful lady from Africa who used to give my little 5yo beauty secrets. She still remembers that lots of water and a good nights sleep are the best beauty secrets

  17. Haha. I used to be the same way when I was little. One commercial had me hooked. I'd beg and beg for something just as stupid as Lelli Kelly shoes. I'd get soo mad when I didn't get my way. I had a mean mom too ;)

  18. Oh.My.Goodness! This post is so funny. My sweet 5 yr old went shopping with her Yia-Yia yesterday and came home with Lelli Kelly's...she loves the blinged out shoes but she loves the makeup cell phone even more. She came running in the house, threw the shoes on the floor and bolted toward the bathroom to put on her "makeup" Mean mommy snuck in her bathroom while she was asleep and took the makeup. I'm hoping she doesn't notice...so far, so good!

  19. My daughter, who just turned 3, was asking for those for her birthday too. The birthday fairy must have gotten the wrong address to our house, because she didn't get a pair either.

  20. oh wow.....that is actually a kind of weird/creepy commercial. I'll be sure to flip the channel if I catch it before my daughter sees. LOL

  22. i don't know if anyone's mentioned this {i'm entirely too lazy to read all of the comments today}, but not only is the commercial waaaaaaaaay too creepy, but if you listen to the jingle the lyrics are something like 'with lelli kelly we are so cool, come play with us, come be cool with us.' so, i'm guessing if you don't wear lelli kelly shoes you are not cool. darn it, and i was so close.

try the knock off laura ashley ones that are waaaaaay less disgusting, and can be found in full effect at marshall's for about $20 bucks. sadly, no make-up cell phone comes with it. i know, i cried for days about that.

  23. Holy cow. Terrible voice-over work to be sure.

Really, I think these girls were the rejected ones from "Toddlers in Tiaras." Now, talk about SCARY and WEIRD stuff. That show gives me the creeps.

    ReplyDelete
  24. They have the look alikes at Target. Not sure about the makeup cell phone though. i HATE what commercials do to kids!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Get the fake ones at Target. Or...make some! I got some cheap-o white canvas on clearance at Gap and added crochet flowers and beads and they are super cute!

  26. Happy birthday to your girlie - yes, Kit is a much better gift! My daughter wants those stupid shoes too! I got her to go with the Sketchers "Twinkle Toes" which are way less $$ but still ugly. I went online to see how much those cost and was floored... some are over 90 bucks!

    ReplyDelete
  27. UMMMM I have never seen that strange commercial (I can't even believe it's real), but if Camden sees it I'll never hear the end of it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Amen!!! My daughter wants them, too. When I checked out the price I almost choked on my drink. Mmm...no fairy is bringing them to my house either.

    ReplyDelete
  29. for what it's worth, i got my daughter a pair of that brand of shoes at marshalls for 19.99...had no idea what the brand was but i'm pretty impressed with my steal of a deal:)
