and honestly, I don't like her much either.

For some reason I thought that a great end to days spent cleaning, de-junking, packing and fixing things around the house would best be rewarded by 20 (actually 28, she's a liar) minutes of torture.

I am on day three of the shred, and I can honestly say that I am in more pain than I was three days after my c-sections. At least after them I had cute babies and vicodin to take home.

Right now I am walking like I am 200 years old.

But, three days in, I have more energy and already feel stronger.
So, although Jillian and I are never going to be BFF's, after I finish these thirty days I probably will thank her more than hate her.

off to shred.

  2. she also hates me.

the shred is awesome!! unfortunately for me, i haven't been as consistent as I would like, but it's still working!

  4. I have been shredding, too! But I have to admit, I kind of love her "pep talks" in the video. Even though I refuse to go beyond the first level!

  5. Yeh, Day three is a kicker!! Honestly, I finally lost most of the soreness around Day ten. Somewhere around Day 20 or so, my knee started giving me so much trouble I had to quit. I have never had knee trouble before. I only do it occasionally now and my knee is fine. It's too much every day. Can't wait to follow your progress!

  6. I love this workout! It's so simple (but not easy). I love how basic the moves are, because I'm not coordinated enough for any fancy stuff :)

My kids like to do this with me. And my husband sits on the couch and watches. LOL!

  7. I have a confession ... I LOVE her!

That being said, I haven't tried this "shred" yet. It's now on my list of things to get, so I may change my feelings toward her.

Good luck to you! Keep it up!

  18. I don't know that I necessarily hate her... BUT I do HATE being so out of shape. I have been working REALLY hard for the past few months and am FINALLY seeing results. (down 25lbs...) SO... keep up the great work. BUT seriously, don't we get enough excercise chasing kids??? Come over to my house Jillian... let me show you what a day in my REAL life looks like.

  20. I bet her workout IS the devil.. but I have a cruise coming up in 6 weeks.. I will be going with my husband, and his sister is going and bringing her best friend. Her best friend who just so happened to date my husband before we got married... so I HAVE to look better than her. I think that would be good motivation to shred :D

  21. My roommate did shred and she hated it the whole time but now she loves her body so it's definitely worth it!

  22. OK, I aso did the shred and LOVED it while I hated it hahaha!!! Jillian made me want to cry the first few times LOL!!! :) I was in SO much pain for the first few days but then it got way better. Now I am doing "One Minute Workouts" and love, love, love how they give me a different workout every day and also it isn't as intense as Jillian! It is perfect after you do the shred! :) Good luck!!!! xoxox Holly

  23. I've seen this video at the store and wondered if it was worth getting. I think the smug "you know you need this fatso" look on her face has kept me away, but now I think I will have to try it out.

    Thanks!!

  24. I do it too! And she makes my muscles talk to me everytime!! :)

  25. Okay, I think that I need to get this. I have been doing Power 90 for the past six+ weeks and have only lost 4 pounds. Am I ready to hate her too??

  27. I applaud you girl! I have heard how sore it makes you, but i am curious, have you lost weight or inches? Good Luck give us some before and after photos!

  28. I turned to Amazon and bought this video for myself. I really love Jillian on the Biggest Loser and always said I would love to have her come over and get me in shape. I'm anxious and honestly a little scared!

  29. I just might try her. I love how cruel she is on The Biggest Loser. I watch that show on Tuesday evening and am ready to workout at 6am on Wednesday. I just imagine Jillian yelling at me to get my booty up and work out. Love your blog!

  30. i have this video too. after the first week, i tried adding the intermediate portion (it adds another 10 minutes to the routine) and i about died. i was out of breathe and panting. then i started laughing at myself and had to stop. my oldest daughter (who is 4) said "mommy, why are you stopping? you are doing a good job!" even with that encouragement, i couldn't keep going and the next day moved back to the 20 minutes.
keep at it, "you're doing a good job!" :)

  32. I'm on day 3 and so sore but I love it. I can't wait to see what a difference it makes! Let's hang in there together.

  33. You know, I only do the shred every couple of days (and combine it with other exercise) and I still get good results. Just a suggestion because you sound like you're in a lot of pain like I was!! I too, did a post on the pain-inflicting video. CHeck it out at http://abitoffreshair.blogspot.com/2009/07/30-day-shred.html

  34. i shredded (and am continuing to shred). i couldn't walk either day 3 and 4, OUCH! by day 7 i felt good. i lost 2 lbs, BUT- MEASURE YOURSELF! i lost 4.25 inches in the first 12 days (a friend of mine lost 6 inches). AND i did a modified version of the modified girl (i'm a wimp).
oh, i used 3 lb weights.
and oh my arms- after 9 days i had muscle definition!!
i HOPE i am encouraging you. j.m. and i will never be good friends, but she has helped me tolerate my 35 yr old, post 3.5 kids, body a bit more. i'm a j.m. believer!
now GO SHRED! "400 lb men can do jumping jacks and so can you!"

  35. I've heard so many great things about this... and I ordered it from amazon and it never came- weird. still trying to figure that out. Anyways, glad to hear that it works so well, sorry you're in pain! :)
