Halley had free dress day at school today and I did what any normal (totally not normal) mom would do at 10:30 p.m. the night before.

Panic that she didn't have any bows to match her new pinnie!
The stores are closed!
I don't have the right ribbon!
Freaking out!
I am not normal.
I am super aware.

Did I happen to mention that she is totally over even wearing bows?
Too bad I'm not.
So I scrounged together some sort of matching ribbon and tried to stay awake and not burn myself with the hot glue gun, which has become an all to common injury lately.

The bows were fine... not amazing.  Just okay.
Then, in my half asleep haze it came to me.
They need huge buttons!
I have decided that everything is just a little bit better with giant fabric covered buttons.
I adore them.  Just a small scrap of fabric and instantly you have a circle of happiness.

This little coffee cozy (part of my birthday giveaway) was begging for a little something something.  Poof.  Big button = big improvement.  It is almost killing me to give it away.  I will just have to sit down and make myself another one.

  1. She looks like Cindy Lou Who!

    Retro-fabulous! :)

  2. The bows and buttons are gorgeous! So is Halley of course. I have just been making simple pony tail holders with the huge buttons... you have opened a whole new world to me LOL!

  3. I love the bows and the big buttons are even better. Can you do a tutorial sometime? I would love to make some bows for my girls.

  4. Oh I just love this pinnie! I just ordered it for my Emma last week. I can't wait to get it...I think the bows are such a nice touch..I wish I knew how to make them.

I know this is totally off topic but your blog is so much fun..it really does celebrate the joy of living each day...Julie,thank you so much for blessing our lives!

  5. I dont' know which I love more...the pinnie or the big buttons!! Do they require any special tools or do you make them by hand? BTW, if your not normal, then I don't want to be either! :)

  6. You crack me up!! Now I am going to have that song stuck in my head all day!!

CUTE bows!! I was up late last night working on some hair fun for my own sweet girl! Have you used fleece yet for the hair flowers?! They are SO full! Now I have to find that perfect center for them each which is going to involve a trip out and about!!

Hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend!!

  7. Oh - those are SOOOO cute. They day my daughter gets over bows will be a sad day indeed.

  8. OMG so cute!!! I love the ribbon bows and she looks so adorable w/ them!

  9. Your girls are so adorable! The bows & buttons are fun too. I have 3 boys but I do have nieces to make cute girly stuff for so these may be making an appearance soon.

  10. Wow, you are amazing. I wish I had the ability to make my little girl bows like that. SHe's just gorgeous too. Take care!
