One of the nights on the cruise is a pirate party.  Weirdly enough Jason and I already have pirate costumes from a youth group event, but the girls don't.  I am not too fond of flimsy store bought ones and the handmade ones I found on Ebay were a fortune.  I also needed to make four, one for each of the cousins.  Inspired by a $75 one I found I set out to make my own, for much less and during naptime.  I got these shirts on clearance from Gymboree for $4 and I bought a yard of black felt for another $4.
I made a super simple skirt with an elastic waist and then made the hem all pirate crazy.  Then I made a little corset using my handy Crop-a-dile to set the eyelets for the ribbon.  That's it.  How stinking cute did it come out?  In one hour I had four costumes made for just about five dollars each.  Take that $75 Ebay lady!
So with that awsome savings I splurged on these fun tights I found on Etsy.  I can't wait to see all of the little pirate girls!  I just might have Halloween done in July!  Instead of 10 minutes before we go trick or treating!
