Confession:

I am not normally that fun mom that loves messes or craziness in the kitchen.
I don't like PlayDoh.  Not a huge fan of finger paints.  Don't even get me started on the evil that is Moon Sand.

Baking alone while everyone sleeps is one of my favorite things.  Just my boyfriend, Dave Matthews and I.

But once in a while you need to let that all go.
You need to let your kids go through all of your flour.  All of your sugar.  All of your eggs.  Nearly all of your sprinkles.  Three batches of frosting.

Because that is what happy childhood memories are made of.

I am so thankful for Drew B.

She has talked me off of the "BOYS ARE SCARY" ledge one million times and it has been so fun being pregnant at the same time. I love that she is having a girl, because I love being the mama of girls.  I love that she knew that we needed a special girly day before little boy madness enters our pink and sparkly home.  I love that my little boy will be wearing her sweet boy's clothes.

She is the fun mom that makes messes with her son and sees the beauty in it.
Now I get it.
I so get it.

Thank you Drew for this day.  My girls won't stop talking about it.  I'm still finding sprinkles in crazy places and each time I do it makes me smile.

Visit Drew's blog to see the rest of the happy shoot.
Be sure to watch the slideshow because it is just happiness.
Janey- trying to sweep up the explosion of sprinkles?  It just doesn't get better.

  2. Lovely lovely photos!

And also echoing that Drew is right. I thought having twin boys would be loco (and some days it is very loco) but oh my goodness do they LUUUUVE me. Yes I've had to develop an iron stomach but the craziness is full of joy!

PS. Both my boys are climbers and jumpers so I finally let them go crazy jumping off the couch with superhero capes while I took photos. This photo went kind of crazy on flickr Tuesday:

  3. I just loved this post! The slide show made me laugh & I could just feel the fun & giggles :) I raised two sons (now 31 & 29) & I can testify to the fact that boys love, love, love their mommas, even when they're grown (with wives & babies of their own) their voices on the other end of the line "Mom" ... makes my heart pitter patter. Between the two of them I now have 3 'grandgirls' who have stolen their Nana's heart(mine!)and who I refer to as my reward for raising sons! Your son will be quite the prince in your palace with three older sisters ... it will be good to be him (of this I am certain :) Your family is beautiful. Congratulations!

  7. drew and you make a great team!! just wished i lived a bit closer (nebraska is way far away in the flat land of cornfields).

when i was preggo with mr.cash, i too swore i was having a little girl. i was made to be a mother of girls. at the ultrasound when they told us we were having a little boy, i was crushed. what kind of mother was i going to be to a boy who i though was a girl for half the pregnancy? i didn't even have that intuition the experts speak of. maybe it was the pregnancy hormones...maybe i really didn't know how to handle boys. after 2 years with a little man in the house, i can tell you that there is nothing sweeter than a "mommy's boy". i will cherish these days when he choses me over his daddy, because i know soon i will not be able to compete with his dad's dirty/hunting/manly lifestyle.

wishing you the best of luck on your arrival of a truck loving/dirty/fart noise/sweet little boy.

One of my very favorite photos still to this day is my oldest daughter sitting on the counter licking brownie batter off her fingers...that also happens to be in her hair and on her toes.
