Except me.
Don't get me wrong, I love me a cozy sweater, (paired with flip flops of course), and a rainy day as much as the next girl.  But there is never a time safer for me to enter a Pottery Barn than right now.  Fall decor.  It holds absolutely no power over me.  However, come Summer, I need to avoid that entire wing of the mall completely.  It's bad.  Budget busting bad. I could get in some major trouble if I let myself even so much as look.
Fall?  Meh.  Dave Ramsey loves my envelope skillz in Fall.

Eleven months out of the year, my mantle pretends that it is part of a beach house.  A beach house that just happens to have been built fifteen minutes in the wrong direction.
I'll add things here and there.  At the flea market this weekend I picked up some gorgeous old aqua bottles and after a few minutes with a glue stick, had my own simple and way less expensive version of these.
The rest of the accessories, the lucky bamboo that somehow I haven't killed in the eight years of taking really poor care of it, starfish dyed in a bowl of leftover teal Rit,
special shells and sand from special places, stay there.  Making me feel for a minute what it would be like to live in Kauai.
Then I light the candles (or flick the switch, love the fakey fake versions) and try to figure out how everyone doesn't want Summer to invade their house all year.

But...
I do love a few perks of fall, such as pumpkin scones from Starbucks, and The Larson Lingo's Pumpkin Bread.  My Kitchenaid gets quite the workout as long as I can find canned pumpkin.  I dare you to throw in mini chocolate chips and not get weak in the knees.
I also can't begin October without lighting a Leaves candle from Bath & Body Works.  Oh.  My.  Word.  Is all I can say about how delightful it smells.

Then, just when I think my boycott of Fall decor is safe and complete, I see these TURQUOISE pumpkins at Tater Tots & Jello and these fun creative pillows from Randomly me...

Slowly Fall is warming up this Summer girls heart.

{and I bought a pair of BOOTS!!!!! Gasp!!! Who am I?}

  1. LOL...I am SO with you on the sweater paired with flip flops. Yuppers, you can count on me wearing flip flops year round. However, I love me some summer (at least at the beach) and would love to live closer than 5 whole hours away from one. Oh yeah, count them...FIVE whole hours from the closest beach. It's sad, I know.

I will admit though, Fall is my fav. But then again, I do live ridiculously far from the beach. Oh, and I bought boots also! I think my flip flops might get jealous...

  11. Those boots are awesome! :) Fall is my favorite season to decorate for because I can have everything up for 3 whole months, then I get to put Christmas up. Joy! Have a great weekend!

  12. O.M.Goodness
One other person who doesn't go all gaga about Fall. I get downright depressed at the thought of no more T-shirts, no more sun warming my skin, stupid closed toe shoes hiding my cutely manicured toes and it's dark in the morning ... BLECH. BUT... I do have a weakness for cute jackets and what better time of year to pull them out of the closet and show them some loving ? :)

  15. Come decorate for me. Please. I have starfish, but they don't look like that. :) I think it all started with the wrong wall color. And hand me down furniture. Someday it will look how i envision it in my head. In the meantime I guess making Dave Ramsey proud is a good goal. :D

  17. I work at BBW and the Leaves is my FAVORITE. I just got Autumn and Cranberry Woods as well and the 3 of them together is just amazing. I'm glad to know someone else looks past the ugly name (leaves) and enjoys it!

  18. I am SO with you on the fall thing. I can't possibly bring myself to bring those dead brown colors into my house - I have to live with them outside, but that's where they stay. When I step into my house, it's instant summer!

  19. Okay. Can I just marry your mantel?

  22. love!
Just passed this along to my momma, as she and my dad will be heading down to FL, Halloween weekend, to visit her BFF from high school and stay at her vacation/beach house.
Thought this would be a fun idea for a housewarming/thank you for inviting me to your beach house gift. Love it.
    Thanks for sharing, as always!
