We are resting.
This summer has been so full.
So fun.
So much.
Packing.
Unpacking.
Packing.
Unpacking.
Repeat.
Repeat.
Repeat.

I love it.
But it exhausts me.

It is one of my favorite summers ever.
But the laundry.

I cherish our adventures.
But I feel like I am running an never ending marathon.
I am not a runner.

It is only just beginning.

So for a minute I will be still.
In the beautiful stillness.

Until I miss the chaos.
I don't have to look far.
It's right around the corner.

  1. Good for you. Take a lesson from your wee ones and recharge those batteries :).

My little guy slept 1 1/2 hours past his normal wake up this morning!! This summer stuff is hard work :).

Good luck with laundry ... I love laundry ... if we live closer, I'd do your laundry and you could make salted caramel cupcakes ;). Trade?

  2. I SOOOOO needed to see/read this today. I am right there with ya, sista! EXHASTED from summer fun . . . last night I was so wired from the circus with my kids that I could not sleep so I posted a blog at 1 a.m. and I am wiped out. Class reunions, family visiting, fireworks, VBS, VBS again, sick kids, bbqs, on an on and on. And yes, laundry.
    grace & rest,

  4. I thought with all our "activity" this summer that the girls would be tired early (or at least the baby would nap well). No such luck here. Enjoy that quiet. On a funny note, I actually read this post in a whisper. See, I listen and follow directions well. :D

  5. Summer really is one of my favorite times of the year. Besides the fact I love being outdoors so much I also love all the time with my kids. Even with the chaos I love it. I have a lot friends who cannot wait for their kids to go back to school. Me. I am loving them home. We only get so many weeks with them right? I am keeping us pretty crazy and busy too. But, then enjoying the calmer and quieter ones. Enjoy your little bit of quiet.

  8. I read this as my 2 boys were sleeping, and all was quiet in the house. I need a break as much as they do, and yeah maybe I wasted it by watching The Hills Aftershow {don't judge:)}, but still it's so nice. Enjoy your little break!!

  9. Don't know if you know this song or not but the lyrics are incredible...
"Be Still" by Steven Curtis Chapmen
Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know that He is holy
Be still, O restless soul of mine
Bow before the Prince of peace
Let the noise and clamor cease

Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know that He is faithful
Consider all that He has done
Stand in awe and be amazed
And know that He will never change
    Be still

Be still, and know that He is God
Be still, and know that He is God
Be still, and know that He is God

    Be still; Be speechless

Be still and know that He is God
Be still and know He is our Father
Come rest your head upon His breast
Listen to the rhythm of His unfailing heart of love
    Beating for His little ones
Calling each of us to come
    Be still, Be still

  11. I forgot to comment on your previous post, so here it it is.
    1. I love your Sunday verses. Divinely {I'm certain} they speak directly to me every week.
    2. Let me make you feel better about your lack of paper mastery... I lack any and all scrapbooking, card making, sewing, knitting, crocheting, photography AND photoshop ability! I do get pregnant REALLY easily and do make very pretty babies... is that a talent??? My point is wow, you have serious sewing skills!! My talent unfortunately has been retired and I've been rendered talentless. I should take a class to learn a new one :)
    3. Happy Summer!
