had two choices today:

1. Go to the beach
2. Write the final Scarf Along post.

Which one did I pick?

Totally worth it.
But for all of you holding your breath...
I was looking at all of the radness over in the Flickr group
and came to a conclusion.

I wear scarves for fashion.
Normal people wear scarves to keep warm.

The original scarves are skinny.
Fun, but skinny.
Perfect for a 75 degrees Cali day,
not so perfect in the snow.

So, I am going to do a two part post tomorrow.
One for finishing the skinny Cali-style scarf
one for adding cozy flannel to the back for
those who actually use scarves for their intended purpose.

If you want to make the cozy scarves, fetch a coupon
and head out to Joann's or Hobby Lobby and
grab 2 1/2 yards of flannel.
Then come home and prewash it.
Flannel has a tendency to shrink...
if you don't wash it your scarves will come out crazy.

But you will have to wait.
I need to wash the sand off my feet,
buy some flannel and Picnik some pics.

See you tomorrow.

  1. ugh. I love the new idea of adding flannel to the back. You're killing me though... KILLING ME! We can't wait for the next step. It's been so fun. How much fabric should we buy for the backs?

  2. Woohoo! Another Californian who wears scarves for fashion!

  3. i hope blogger doesn't hate YOU today like it does me.

  4. Crap. Don't give me an option!!! Now I don't know what to do. I'm in Indiana, not many fashion-scarf wearers around here. :( I'm torn.

  5. you read my mind! I was going to still make the scarves just put a minky fabric on the back so they would be cozy and warm :)

  6. I'm in Indiana also. But people around here wear scarves for fashion too. I think I might do some of both.

  7. Those scarves are sooooo adorable I can hardly stand it!

  8. Funny you should mention this... I bought brown flannel on Saturday... I assumed we would be folding the scarves in half, and I rather liked the size they are now, so I was going to just add fabric to the back... Yeah!

  9. Um.
Since I was a dork and made pillows before I attempted a scarf, I don't have pics to add to the group yet. BUT when I do make my scarves, they will have some cozy polar fleece on the backs of them for "warmfs". I live in the Chicago area. 'Nuff said.
So, that's another idea to toss out there. Joann's has their anti-pill fleece on sale like every day and in about 20 bajillion colors and prints too.

  10. Are your totally adorable girls wearing dresses from the Miss Madeline pattern? Did you make them? I've been wanting to buy the pattern(s) but would love to hear a review first if that is, in fact, what they are :)

  11. The beach looks like so much fun. I'm in need of an ocean escape!

I wanted to let you know that I've tagged you with an award for a being a blog that brightens my day. I'm sure you get these ALOT, but I couldn't not include you and your swell blog since it's one of my favorites. I hope you'll stop by and check it out.

  12. You are a hoot! I am a South Carolinian who wears scarves for a touch of fashion. I will be back tomorrow :) Love the pic of the kids!

  13. You made the right choice - your girlies are too cute!

I've had two people ask where I got my super skinny scarf - holla!

  14. How are those over achievers doing the next step of the scarf along - on the Flickr group?! grrr....

  15. Isn't it great livin' in southern cali? The girls dresses are beautiful too!! oh, and you should of just taken a pic of yourself wearing the scarf and that would of been almost as good!
