In general I am pretty boring and predictable wardrobe wise. Most days I can be found in dark Curvy Jeans with button back pockets from The Gap, two ribbed tank tops (I call them something else, but it is hardly politically correct) a cardigan or zipped hoodie and flip flops. I hardly stray from the formula. If I do it might involve a skirt with the same tank tops & jean jacket or a dress and jean jacket. I rarely wear prints, pretty much 90% of my wardrobe is black or chocolate and if I do wear something funky it is a necklace, headband, or shoes. That all came to change when The Cheetah came to live with us from a thrift shop in Canada. Many a day I throw it over my same simple jeans, flats and black long sleeve t-shirt and suddenly I am a sassy new person. I see people react differently to me and I feel generally different. It makes me wonder what the original owner was like of this 50 plus year old coat. Was it an everyday wardrobe staple? Or did she pull The Cheetah out when she was feeling a bit more spunky? What is the one thing in your wardrobe that is so completely opposite of you that it actually is 100% you? I just know that this was one of the best things I have ever spent $10 on.

what a neat post! I love "the cheetah" neat idea for a blog post too, I'll have to pass it along as I know a few people who are struggling through the last few days of nablowrimo. LOL
ReplyDeleteSooo funny Julie... I wish I had a friend with that jacket so I could borrow it. :) Maybe I should get Heather one for her birthday next year-- hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI have a jacket just like that!!! Wow! Got it in a thrift store in high school and I still year it today. It makes me feel super sassy and oh so young again!
ReplyDeleteMy moccasins. Man, I can't even tell you 1. how ridiculous I felt buying them at the thrift store and 2. how much I love them. If I didn't live in a place that has snow on the ground 2/3rds of the year I would wear them everywhere I go instead of just around the house.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love the cheetah. :)
I have this wonderful jacket that does the same thing for me!
ReplyDeleteIts a wool, plaid pea coat/cape thing- its not as tailored as a pea coat and its got 3/4 length sleeves.
It looks great with jeans and black boots. Doesn't matter what I'm wearing underneath, I go out looking and feeling great! And I notice a difference in how people look at me as well.
I think pieces like that are so important :)
Rawr!! Love fun, vintage finds!!
ReplyDeletewaddup fellow old-skooler.
ReplyDeletelove this post!
ReplyDeleteHow on earth do you keep the coat in good condition?
love how you put "so completely opposite of you, that it actually is 100% you"
That is an awesome coat! I love having one or two WOW pieces in my wardrobe. Since I don't work in an office anymore and have to wear a uniform I miss not being able my WOW pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love this jacket! I would have to say for me it is a cute pair of bright red flats. I normally try not to draw any attention to myself. But, when my sister got married and her wedding color was bright red I just knew I wanted red shoes. I love to now splash these shoes on with just plain black or brown outfits and I always seem to have someone say something about loving them. They really are my favorite pair of shoes too.
ReplyDeleteI recently found a sweater that has all kinds of ruffle mixed in with some lace on the neck and down the front (a button down). It is brown and kinda long. Never thought I'd wear something like that but I loved it when I saw it and I still do. It makes me feel a little more classy. Ya know what I mean?
ReplyDeletelove love love love love the jacket....when you are done with it (as if!) can I have it...please please please please please????
ReplyDeleteI put up a picture of the coat on my blog! :)
