As I sit here typing I can hear Halley singing songs about God in her bed.
My heart is so happy.
Looking through last year's Easter pics, I can't believe how much has changed.
My blog was just a baby,
we just got a Mac,
I was teaching myself how to sew with patterns,
Halley used to wear big huge bows,
Lulu was so little,
Janey wasn't even created.
Crazy.

I look forward to pulling out the Easter baskets and skirts again, as well as making Janey something tiny and matching, as we celebrate Jesus' resurrection.

I made Easter baskets using this Sew Sensible pattern.  It is more of an intermediate level project.  I measured and cut it out wrong the first time, but then I figured it out.  Might have to do with my lack of paying attention to instructions.   The final product is super cute and holds a ton of eggs.  I dare you to give it a try.

These skirts were made using this ruffled skirt tutorial from Grand Revival Designs.  After all of the patterns I have tried in this past year, this still is one of my favorites.  It will really push you to learn gathering and when you are done I think you will be really proud.  I added the ruffles to make it more twirly.  What girl doesnt' love to twirl?  I made both of them a little big, so they can be worn again this year for the community egg hunt.  I normally not really into character clothing, but once in a while an exception has to be made.

Happy sewing.

  1. I'm gonna give both of those patterns a try. As I was reading this post, Camden was on my lap, and pointing to your sidebar said: "HEY! That's MY headband!"

  3. I would love to try these, if only you can tell me where you got the Charlie Brown fabric - my youngest is crazy about Snoopy. I've made fleece CB blankets, but I've never seen this - please let me know where you get the goods! :)

I finished Storey's Easter dress, but it doesn't look very Eastery-it's on my blog if you want to take a look :)

  6. The first thing I noticed were those bows.

I used to always have gorgeous big bows on my pigtailed daughter too! I was seriously sad when she outgrew them.

Everyone at school knew her by her bows. Everywhere we went people commented on them. I must've spent hundreds of dollars just on bows. *sniff sniff*
