I am simply overwhelmed by all of your sweet comments and support.  I have to be transparent and admit that pregnancy is not easy for me.  Emotionally or physically.  I know most of you haven't heard my story, or even where the name of this blog or my Etsy shop came from.  God has placed it on my heart to share the journey we have taken the past 7 years, but it is difficult for me to imagine even articulating it.  Little by little over the next few weeks I will share where I have been and how far the Lord has brought me in faith and trust as I embark on what is my sixth pregnancy.  I have faced stillbirth, miscarriages and infertility, yet am laying this baby at the feet of Jesus and fully expecting Him to carry me through the next 25 weeks.  Without Him I am unable to even parent my girls, much less stay sane enough to survive growing this new little one.  I humbly ask for your prayer that God gives me the words to say and the strength to share....
Hard to transition from that, but Halley's Little Mermaid phase has been trumped by Snow White.  She has had a crazy growth spurt recently and seemingly overnight outgrew all of her favorite princess shoes that her sweet aunt gave her.  I simply can't throw down for a whole new set and she was batting her eyes and giving me lots of "pretty pleases" for some new Snow White shoes.  During her nap I got out her red flip flops, dug through my ribbon and fabric stash and within 30 minutes for zero dollars I came up with these:
The bottlecaps are from Wal-mart.  I wasn't sure if she would wear them, if the ribbons would bug her, but she hasn't taken them off since.  I think these would make a fabulous birthday gift or even party favor.  Flip flops are super cheap and who doesn't have ribbon laying around needing a use.  I found directions at Polka Dot Birthday on how to make them.  Happy flip flopping!

  3. Hearing you say that you have been through so much brings tears to my eyes. My heart breaks for anyone that has been though that kind of hardship.I know that pain (miscarriage and infertility) and I am praying for you. I put on a happy face, but underneath I know there is so much heartache and oneday it will come pouring out of me. I just try to use it all for good!
I wish you the very best. You are an amazing mother and a great person!

  4. Since there are no "perfect words" for someone who has been through so incredibly much, I just want to send you love and prayers as you continue along on your journey. May this pregnancy be full of wonderful memories for you all.

And Miss Halley is simply too darn cute for words! LOVE those flip flops you whipped up during nap time! And you are right...what a FABULOUS idea for party favors! This year is pretty much wrapped up, but I am DEFINITELY keeping that in mind for later!

  7. Oh, those are so adorable. Hmm...wonder if the girls would give up a pair of flip flops for us to do that with.

  8. We made ribbon flip flops for the fourth last year. I never thought of making them princess shoes! What an amazing idea! Thank you for sharing, Princess Gina will be so happy! (I have those bottle caps in my scrap stash) ;)

My prayers will be with with you. We too have been through much. Gina was an invitro miracle and Adler is a sweet miracle God blessed us with out of the blue! (miscarrage too in the middle) He truly has a great plan, it is hard for us to understand sometimes. Again we will be praying for you and your family, sorry I can be so wordy sometimes.

  9. Congrats, Julie! I didn't realize you were expecting. I have also had six pregnancies, and I know how loss can cloud the joy of pregnancy. I hope that God will give you a peace beyond your expectations and a beautiful, healthy baby.

  10. I have no perfect words for you, but I want to let you know that you are in my prayers for a happy, healthy pregnancy. If it helps, I found solace in a forum when I went through my infertility issues. www.americanpregnancy.org/forums.

The flip flops make to great parties, believe it or n ot. I had quite a few of them in college with girls that liked to use them for house shoes in the dorms. Oh, and school colors are awesome. :-)

  11. Hi! I'm not quite sure how i found you, jumping from blog to blog (from one of central coast friends I think?)... but I just wanted to sympathize with you... I myself have had 3 miscarriages (and I have one daughter) and I'm heading to an infertility doc in a couple of weeks to have all my tests that have come back normal "evaluated." All that to say that I rejoice with you in your pregnancy and pray for a healthy baby! I'm happy to have a new blog to read and feel free to click on over to one of mine!
    Nicole :)
    P.S. Love those flip-flops too!
